Kris Poston
aka: Loop Wing
Virginia Beach, Virginia
I
have been fly fishing for about 8 years and tying about 5 of those years.
Most of my fishing takes place on small brook trout streams in the Shenandoah
National Park. I have tried my luck at saltwater fly fishing to no
avail. It is just not the same as 4 foot wide streams and brook trout
pouncing on a Loop Wing Quill Gordon. Something about that just gets my
blood going.
Note by Ed Gallop: One of my regular angling buddies, Kevin Amos, and I were fishing a native brookie stream with Kris and his dad last year (2000). We handled Kris' 2 weight brookie rod, that he built himself, and were impressed enough to have him build us one each. Kris has built rods for the last 2 years and I can personally vouch for his top quality work.
If you are interested in having Kris build you a custom rod, just email him for details.
I was contacted by a lodge in Alaska (because I retired from there) where Chris had applied as an assistant guide. They apparently thought about him as I did because he was hired repeatedly, year after year. Not only is he an excellent rod builder and fly tier, he is an excellent angler with a bright future.
