This couple is fly tying and fly-fishing best friends who currently live in Delta, Colorado where they operate their business, BT's Fly Fishing Products. Their product line includes fly-fishing and tying items they regularly use in their day-to-day activities as fly fishing instructors, guides, and commercial fly tiers.
They are authors of "Hair Wing Dry Flies" and "Innovative Flies and Techniques". They are also the editors of the Federation of Flyfishers' "Fly Pattern Encyclopedia".

Hook: Dry fly #12 - #22.
Thread: Tan or color to match the insect.
Tail: Bleached moose.
Wings: Ginger, looped wonder-wing style.
Body: Dubbing to match the insect.
Hackle: Bleached deer hair.
Head: Bleached deer hair, trimmed muddler style.
Notes: Al developed this fly in 1985 to gain a pattern that floated as well as a Humpy but had the slender profile of a natural mayfly. Change color to match the insect.![]()

Thread: Tan, or color to match the insect.
Tail: Excess Hackle Fibers, remaining from the wings.
Wings: Ginger Hackle, looped wonder-wing style.
Body: Dubbing to match the insect.

Notes: Any color combination is possible. Make use of large wet-fly hackles for
small dry flies.

Body: Natural deer Hair, spun and trimmed.
Wings: Fox or gray squirrel tail.
Tag: Tying thread.
Head: Deer or elk hair, spun bullet head and collar.
Notes: This fly is illustrated in Al and Gretchen's book titled
"Tying Hair Wing Flies." It floats like a cork and provides a very natural silhouette that is
attractive to fish.
